Checking out my stick piles

Dec. 22 /08

Yesterday we were in the middle of the worst blizzard imaginable. It was a total white-out out there. But I bundled up real warm and took Mama out into the Arctic tundra to do my winter stick check at the park.

You know how seriously I take my stick piles. Well, I keep a close eye on my sticks that are in the back yard, but you can never be too careful about the stick piles you build at the park. So I like to make sure they're safe under the snow so they'll be waiting for me in the spring just as I'd left them.

Here I am on my way to the park. Notice that first I had to mark my Winter Wonderland.

I'm happy to report that all five of my stick piles were intact. Now I can rest easy for the next couple of months, knowing my precious sticks are ok.

Here I am doing my stick check:

That video came out a little funny. I think Mama's camera was beginning to freeze. I know I was. I was wearing my coat and a scarf and I was still frozen. So while I was at the park, I did a couple of low-impact jumpies and a half-zoomy and called it quits. Frankly, I don't love the winter. I was just as happy to go home where it was toasty and warm and play with my toys.

I want to thank everybody who sent me Christmas e-cards. I even got a couple from dogs I don't even know. How nice! You are all such great pals.

You sure are single-minded, even in the snow. We're glad all your sticks are safe. We woofies understand how important sticks are.

The words were tiny on the video. We had to read them to Jan cause she's old.

Merry Christmas!

Wow Chef!! Great videos- we haven't ever seen snow like that where we live! It just doesn't come down like that in the South! Pretty cool! Glad you are warm inside though because that looked so cold!!! We are snuggling under blankets just watching the video!
p.s. our mom is really computer slow- she has an actual holiday card for you but she has to scan it onto the computer and hasn't really figured out how to do that! we will get on her about it tonight!!

I'm glad to hear that your sticks are still safe. Hopefully the snow will keep it well protected and out of sight until your next venture to the park. My mom says that you look really cute all bundled up and that she wishes that we lived somewhere where it snowed so she could bundle me up too.

Boy buddy, do you have OCD about those sticks or what. You wouldn't find any of us outside for the length of time.

We are still in total shock by all that snow. There's just so much of it. How does your pinky walk around? Is she falling over all the time cause it's so deep? She should wear skis, that would be fun. You could tow her hee hee.
Your poor paws must be icy.
I'd rather be by the fireplace too.
Enjoy your stick collection and a very Merry Christmas to your pack Chef.

Chef - My mom's camera freezes too and says the batteries are dead when they aren't. Quite the snowstorm. You must have felt like an arctic explorer pup.
