S is for sunshine that warms up my snout.
P is for puddles and splashing about.
R is for raindrops that splash on my nose.
I see my parents instead of Eskimos.
I love spring til the month after May
Spring has finally arrived here in eastern Canada and I've been having so much fun jumping in mud puddles and chasing squirrels. In fact, I got so dirty, that yesterday my white socks were almost black. So Mama took me to the groomer for a stinky-bath and I came out smelling like vanilla. YUCK. Anyway, spring seems to be bringing out the poet in me. So I'm having a poetry contest about spring. Let's see what literary talent lies under those furry little heads of yours. I'll start you off and you finish the poem. It can be just one line or as long as you want it to be. It can be silly or sentimental - whatever you want to write is ok with me.
From T-bone Beasley:
From G-man:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue .
Spring is here - must be time to eat your poo!
From Taphillips:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue.
We're going for a walk with dogmom
You wanna come too?
April 4 /08
We're getting lots of poems and they're all so cute, and that's great because we need some cheering up. Here we are writing about spring and when I woke up this morning - IT WAS SNOWING ! I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked out the window and saw this:
Where did spring go? Just when the grass in our backyard was starting to show, it's all white again! And the chair - that's Beauty's throne (I've got plans to make it mine in the summer, whenever that'll be...) is half-buried again. A week ago, you couldn't even see the chair because it was totally covered with snow and I think it's going to disappear again before the day is through. Is this weather wierd or what?
Mama decided to get her mind off winter and cook. So what did I do? I hung around the kitchen waiting for yummers to fall. My take so far has been cheese, cucumber, bread crust, some egg, a couple of slices of honey-glazed chicken, potatoe peel, and assorted crumbs that I can't identify. Mama doesn't like it so much when I wander around the kitchen when she's cooking. I get a lot of, "Chef, no!" and "Chef, move!" and "Go away, Chef!" Geez, where am I supposed to go when all this food is lying around - outside? I don't think so. I'm staying right here until this floor is clean.
Sniff sniff. What the heck is this stuff ? Who cares? Slurp.
Considering my name and all, I kind of resent being kicked out of the kitchen !
So it's back to dreaming about spring ... and reading more poems ...
From Clover:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue.
My backyard just melted and Daddy found his shoe.
From Neko:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue.
I would like a steaming pot of squirrel meat stew.
.From Lola:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue.
If this snow doesn't melt soon, I'm going to be blue.
From Mango:
Spring is here
I see a deer.
They are running
Oh my, that's something.
From Peanut:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue.
I think now would be a good time
To go and eat some poo.
From Moco:
Daffodis are yellow, irises are blue.
Grammie plants tomatoes and I eat them too.
From Turbo:
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue.
'Cause I peed on the daffodils.
Now I'm going to poo.
From Coco:
S is for sausage that I like to eat.
P is for peaches that taste so sweet.
R is for rawhides that I call bones.
I is for ice cream, best served in a cone.
N is for naps that I take all day.
G is for good, which I am always.
All of you are such good poets and it's so hard to pick a winner.
I figured I'd sleep on it so I took a nice long snooze and woke up thinking, ok, I've got to go with Clover's poem. It's about her Daddy finding his shoe in the back yard after the snow melted - the shoe that Clover hid there last fall!! That is so funny, Clover. There are all kinds of treasures under the snow in our back yard too. Amazingly, Mama also found a shoe in our yard but it doesn't belong to anyone in our house so she's wondering how it got there. Shhh... don't tell her but I took a little pink sandal from the park and hid it in the back yard last fall and no one even noticed til now! Mama doesn't know it yet but there are balls that I stole from other back yards, a few socks, some sticks and a length of rope that I was chewing on in October.
Anyway, since I don't have everyone's email address, I'm posting this special award for Charlie, T-bone Beasley, G-man, Mack, Taphillips, Neko, Lola, Mango, Peanut, Moco, Turbo and CoCo. Please feel free to download them to your blogs, or if you know of some other way for me to get them to you, let me know what it is, ok Puppers?
Clovergirl, here's your prize. You can download it, but if you want me to email it to you, send us your email address in a comment and we'll keep it private. Either way is fine.
Thanks everyone and have a great week.

hmm we will have to think about it and get back to you.
We aren't much of a poet. Maybe we will come up with something later.

You are such a multi-talented little dude. Spring rocks because there are so many things to eat and dig up.
Mango
We have a boxer that lives on our street - and it is sooo well behaved that Mama is embarassed when we pass by and freak out at it. The boxer isn't even tied up and just sits there and watches us bark and claw at it.
We think your cousin is so sweet - we know you will protect and show your cousin a whole bunch of tricks
Doubt if I can beat Charlie's cute little ditty but here goes...
Daffodils are yellow, irises are blue,
