The Great Exchange/ My Stick Pile

May 21 /08

Toot toot! The Exchange is a runaway train, doggies!

So far, we've signed up about 70 of you and the responses are still trickling in. Beasley and I figure that by the time cut-off day rolls around on Saturday, we'll have way more than we ever imagined. On June 9, the earth is going to shake, rattle and roll, boys and girls! They'll be able to hear our woofs and yowls and meows from coast to coast and beyond. It is definitely going to be our special day... ya know, someone ought to make Pet's Day a yearly holiday, like Mother's Day, don't ya think? ------or a weekly thing ...

Anyway, so check out our blogs on Sunday (maybe Saturday) for the list of participants and who you are partnered with. Then get in touch with each other asap to get all the info you need. And then rush the human out the door and over to the pet store. Even if theyre still in their jammies and slippers, get them out!! ( And take a picture!). Then send them to the post office. We're leaving it up to you to get them moving along. No excuses ......
,

And I just want to say that one of the best parts of the Exchange is that I got to meet so many of you for the first time, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you better.

In other news, I had a very interesting evening. I headed over to one of my favourite hangouts: the stick pile.

This is where I've been finding most of my sticks lately. It's actually the remains of an old birch tree which somebody chopped down and left for pickin' by stick lovers like me. I pass the stick pile every time I take a walk. And a walk doesn't go by that I don't yank one of those big buggers out from under the pile and start dragging it home.
b

I've had to abandon most of them in the middle of the street 'cause they're just too unmanageable. And Mama and Papa have given a few of them the heave-ho when they thought I wasn't looking. But a few of them have made it to the back yard where I am going to start my own stick pile. I don't know what Mama's going to say about a stick pile sitting in the middle of her precious lawn, next to her precious garden where her precious flowers are beginning to sprout their precious blooms. Something tells me she isn't going to think my stick pile is very precious.

I don't understand that because I think a bunch of rotting, crooked, smelly old sticks are a beautiful addition to the landscape, don't you?

Making a stick pile is very hard work.

We are getting very excited about the goody exchange.
It looks like you have full control of that stick. I can't imagine why your mom would be upset with a stick pile. It would add some rustic beauty to your yard.

Our mommy found a stick that big the other day. But she didnt give it to us, instead she walked with it, and teased us by tapping our behind when we werent looking. But then daddy took it and broke it. He is a big dumb puppy sometimes too, like Max!

Stick piles are beautiful additions to any landscape! My Mom says she'd like to participate in the exchange but we're going to be doing a lot of traveling--so she'll wait until next year (it's going to be such a smashing success that it'll become an annual event!!)

Hey there Chef! Just to let you know that I am interested in joining the International Goody Exchange. I don't mind if I have to send off the package to a friend who's living overseas. Things in Malaysia are expensive & don't think my mommy can get a huge box of stuff that will cost up till $15 coz if times than with 3, it will cost up till RM45 & that is a little too expensive for her. She will get something small. Is that okay? Let me know ok?

We can't wait to see who we get in the exchange! Those sticks look pawsome! A lot of our Aire-buddies love sticks, but we just don't get it. We have lots of sticks in our woods, but we don't pay too much attention to them. Have a pawsome weekend!

Hi Chef! I heard about the exchange but won't be able to join in the fun, much to my dismay.

My dad has a stick that looks like yours and he uses it to hunt for mushrooms, but I like your idea better.

What a good idea, I never thought about playing with sticks before. I think a stick pile will look great in your back yard, our skin people just have no taste in design. Good luck.

Hi Chef! I have heard so much about you from Beasely that I thought I might swing by. You are one handsome boxer I might add. I am a Black Airedale. Beasely and I came from the same kennel....I think we are cousins or something like that. Thanks for putting this exchange together. You and your mama have been working hard.
