What fun I had this past weekend. Mama, Papa and I went on three road trips to Kars, Ontario for some shows and travelling back and forth was a real adventure. We could have stayed at a motel overnight but there's something to be said about hitting the road at 4 am and watching the sun rise over the landscape.
While the moon is still out.
Each day Mama and Papa stopped for an early breakfast while I walked around in the morning mist. It's so nice doing things when most of the world around you is still asleep. I have discovered dawn and I love it.
Mama and Papa stopped at an English pub overlooking the Rideau Canal near Ottawa, Ontario. and then I went sniffing around MacDougall Park. It was really beautiful. I almost said to heck with the shows.. let's just stay here ...
Shows shmows ... let's the three of us spend the weekend roaching and looking for sticks, ok?
Oh well, gotta go now.
Hosta luego ... hasta luego.
... which might not have been a bad idea, considering the stunt I pulled later on in the ring - Mama screwed up her courage and decided to take the leap into show biz. She handled me in the ring on Saturday and what did I do? I turned into a clown. I gave the performance of a lifetime - I snatched the bait out of her hand and then I lied down right there in the ring. Plus, I got myself all covered in mud. It had just poured and the ring was soaking wet and fantastically filthy. I couldn't resist.
I don't know what came over me. I was just in the mood to play and be funny. Afterall, I was with Mama, right? If you can't play and have fun with your own Mama, who can you play and have fun with? I don't know why Mama wasn't laughing, or smiling, or anything. Oh, what amazing mud it was, too. I ask you, how often do you get to lie down in stinky slime?
So Mama was whispering in my ear, "Chef, don't do that. Chef, c'mon." So I relented and stood up. But my legs were sticking out all over the place and my head was practically upsidedown because I was looking at the cute Boxergirl behind me.
I told Mama to post the video - I'm supposed to be me, remember? But she said the gutter words Papa was using when he filmed us would get us kicked off of Blogger forever, so I said never mind.
Well, all of Mama's friends had encouraged her to do it. Now they're saying, "Ok. Just take lessons." But Mama said she learned her lesson. I don't quite know what she meant.
Anyway, today I was hitting the bottle in the backyard when my little friend Zoe came by to visit me.
Hey Chef. Look at meeee.
Geez, I love that girl. She's got Boxer-size guts even though she's just a little whisp of a Yorkygirl. I've seen bigger dogs than her be afraid of me because I'm so big, but not Zoe. She trots right up to me and takes my toys right from under my nose. I must look like a giant to her but she's not afraid. Not my Zoe .
If I don't give her my toy, she gives me a whatfor. Well, I wasn't about to share my monkey. Not even with Zoe. Knowing how fiesty she is, she'd kill it in a minute. No way, not my monkey.
Anyway, Beauty was watching us play from her favourite perch on the window sill. She looks so serious. What do you figure she was thinking?
What was Beauty thinking?
I'm thinking:
1. I want Zoe to go home. I'm jealous
2. I know about girls like you, and my brother is too young to get married.
3. I want to go shopping with Zoe.
4. Zoe is so smart - she must be a cat.
By the way, Friday is my birthday. I'll be turning two. It's hard to believe what a big boy I am. Well, I heard Mama making plans to pick up some treats from the barkery. I can hardly wait - I've already got my party hat on.
AWARDS
All kinds of awards have been flying fast and fur-iously between our blogs this week. Isn't it nice when we honour each another?
My buddy, Beasley sent me a Puffy Heart.
Thanks, Bease. I appreciate it so much. Now I'd like to pass it on to: Moco, Eric, The Puppies, and Dewey Dewster.

My dear friends, Momo and Pinot ,

What a nice surprise. Thanks so much, Momo and Pinot.
This award "was created for bloggers who inspire others with their creativity and their talents, and for contributing to the blogging world." Holy makerel.
These are the rules:

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog to be visited.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given him/her the award itself.
4. Award winners and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of the "Arte-y-Pico" blog so everyone will know the origin of the award.
5. In compliance with said RULES, the award winner must show the RULES.

Then I got another Premio:

Thank you so very much, Opal, Maggie and Marshall.
I am now supposed to send the Premio to seven blogbuddies. Off you go to:

Some of you probably have this award already, but two is twice the honour.

Hi Chef
I didn't know they had nice slimy mud at doggie shows! Who could resist? I think it's like me being real good when the Bark Buster guy was walking around the park with my owners. But when he's gone I know I can try stuff.
Those pictures in the beginning are real nice. Good thing you had fun in the park.

Chef!
You sound like you had the best weekend ever! You got to lay in mud and I got to roll in some musty dusty dirt!! Woohoo!
I think you ought to be a little nicer to your momma when she is showing you...after all, if you make her look silly, then people might think youre silly too. Well I mean you are silly, but in a good way! Ack! You know what I mean.
As for the boy human...that is my humans boyfriend. I always gotta show him who is boss whenever he is around my human...silly boy human doesn't seem to quite understand that I am always going to be #1 heheheeh!
Slurp!

Wow, I like your sunrise picture and the one of the moon, how cool!!! I wonder if it was the same sun? That little dog is not afraid of you? She is really brave. My mum swears like a sailor and alot of videos don't make it to the blogger.....

Happy early birthday Chef! I bet you have lots of fun things planned for this weekend!! Keep begging for your mom to put the video up of the show- we would love to see you roll around in the mud... maybe she can mute your dad's bad words? We are superb at being bad when we shouldn't so we bet we know what kind of words he said! :)

CHEF! You were in Ottawa and you didn't come visit me!! But guess what? This weekend I was SUPER SUPER close to Kars, at my grandma's house!! I so wish I had known!
Love Clover xo
Chef!!! I just realized that I haven't ever rapped for you! Hehehe!
Okay, here it goes!
Chef, you know that boxer dude. The guys with pointy ears and spunky attitude.
He's gotta thing for sticks, and he knows some awesome tricks! He can make them disappear after a quick lick of his lips!
Stuffies beware, Chef don't like to share! He'll tear you apart and turn you to a pair...Once you are two, one half belongs to the Chef and the other half to another!
Hehehe!
I hope you're having a good day!
Slurp!

Gee Chef....
Thanks fer the honor of the red puffy heart award. I will cherish it always and post it next post....
no rules fer this one, huh?
Ya had Gram laughin' at yer antics in the ring this weekend....layin' in the mud is somethin' my Mom would do fer sure...you two would make a great team. Somehow I don't think the judge would see it as an asset though. But tell yer Mom not ta despair about showin' ya...we have friends that do it 'n they took lessons ta learn....one got 2 of her wires championships....yer Mom can do it fer sure.....
Ya really have some beautiful scenery in Canada....maybe someday we can get ta see it ourselves.....'n yer little friend is really cute but toy sharin' is serious busines...can't let just anyone share yer monkey....
Thanks again 'n have a great week...
Dewey Dewster here.....
Hey Chef, I hope your birthday will be great. I don't know if I did already but I wanted to confirm I've got you on the list for the Bone Relay.
Your friend, Lenny
Chef,
you are hilarious my friend. Beauty is thinking "you're both crazy. Why don't you go chase a mouse?"
Happy 2nd Birthday buddy!
Rambo
Hey Chef. Those early morning pics look, well, like it IS EARLY! It makes us kinda sleepy.

The FleasGang
Hey Chef! What a pal!! Thanks so much for the award, I love it and your bloggie too!! You always make me laugh.Pawsome photies too by the way. The moon and the sunrise, confess I've never seen them, well until now. I lay in my pit till at least 9 o'clock - it's the right of every teenager like you and me to have a little lie in in the mornings don't you think?
Maybe Zoe is a big dog in a small body? Wouldn't like to mess with her. Oh and Beauty is thinking "what's for dinner today chef?"....
Woo-hoooooo!!! Birthday Friday coming up- Happy Best Ever Barkday dude!! Waging for you, Eric x
Chef,
Personally I think Zoe was thinking something like, "Ugh, here comes another one of those dogs. I really need to complete my plans for overthrowing their kind once and for all..." I live with cats who tolerate me but probably wouldn't mind if I moved away. Haha, I'm not goin anywhere :)
Pedro
Chef, those judges should know that only the elite pay big bucks for spa mud treatments and you just wanted to look your best.
Chef, we are so, SO SORRY we didn't get to meet you last weekend. We had a full and eventful weekend here and didn't get to Kars. But one of these days we WILL meet.
Oh...and one more thing. My mom is whispering something about me getting the old "snip snip!" YIKES! She said she doesn't think I have a hope or a prayer in the showring and the time is coming to rob my manhood from me.
Woofs and slobbers to you buddy,
from your Newfie pals,
Gabe (and 'Bella too!)
Ooo...Zoe has such pretty eyes!
Chef,
You crack me up. Maybe you just aren't made for showing. You are much more enjoyable being your goofy self. That Zoe is quite the girl.
Thanks for the award. I will be posting it later.
That must have been heart breaking for your mom. Tell her it can only get better though..
We are hoping that Callie can come home on Friday. Keep your paws crossed..
Big Sloppy Kisses

Ooh Zoe is such a cutie pie. I can understand why you'd be so possessive with your monkey. Who wouldn't?

Chef! Chef!
Please, please don't be mad at me - it is all my mom's fault. We went shopping to buy you goodies nearly 2 1/2 weeks ago and just now when we went to send them (along with a couple of other packages) we could not find your address and now my mom is leaving tomorrow for her honeymoon. Chef, I am so, so sorry please don't hate me - it is my mom's fault that she lost your pee-mail with the address - please pee-mail your snail mail again to: petfxr@gmail.com
Hi Chef,
It's me again! Obviously, I did not see that you gave me ANOTHER award when I posted earlier. You are an awesome friend! Thank you soooooo much for thinking of me.

Chef, you might want to reconsider messing about in the ring. According to my brother Floyd, if you get your champion title you get to meet lots of really hot gals.
