On garden duty

May 27 /09

It's really starting to feel like summer around here. The flowers are blooming and the trees are finally green. And, of course, Mama's spending zillions of hours in the garden, turning the earth, digging, trimming, planting.

There are still lots of containers and bare spots to fill. It's taking her an awfully long time, but that's ok.

Seeing that she's spending less time with me, I decided to plunk myself down at the edge of the lawn every day and make sure no one comes and steals our flowers.
,

Being a watch dog a very important job.

I am alert and ready.

Defending our garden is something I take very seriously.

If I see a trespasser on our property, I'll have to assume he's planning to run off with our begonias, and I will chase him down as fast as my legs can carry me. It's unfortunate, but it's what I have to do.

I've been sitting here for two days now and there's been no sign of any flower thieves.

But I will sit here all summer long if I have to just to make sure our garden is safe...

I'll send you a bag of walnuts to sprinkle around the lawn, you're sure to get a squirrel! Just look out when the lawnmower spits them out. :)

Chef, we could use you here. We have flower thieves! They're really big iguanas who sometimes come in our back yard and they eat our flowers and poop on our back porch. Any time you want to guard our garden, you're welcome to.

See ya!
Joey and Zeke

P.S. Your flowers are beautiful!

Chef,

I'm so glad you defend your garden so well and you protected the rocks you sent me perfectly too. I posted about them today! Thanks so much for sending the rocks for the coffee table!

Don't forget to check for invading cats too.

It's starting to get too warm for flowers and stuff in Spain now so the only things that flower through summer and ones that need little water and can withstand the heat.

Very important job Chef. You never know when those horrid garden gnomes are going to strike and sneak into the prize begonia patch. Moma has made a very beautiful garden so no wonder you're so vigilant - boy you are looking handsome and invincible in those photos no one would dare challenge you.

Wiry wags n kissies, Eric xx
