Mama's so busy / Garden pics / Kibble

June 10 /08

I'm a sad and lonely Boxer because Mama has been so freakin' busy lately and she's been spending less and less time with me. And I don't like it. Not one bit.

I've been forced to swallow my pride and follow her around like a little lost puppy. I also haven't had any blog time in I don't know how long because she's always hogging the computer, and I've had to neglect my friends. She finally helped me blog tonight. Well, I don't mean to be rude, but it's about time!

I've taken to leaning into Mama a lot just to make sure I'm still part of her pack. She reassures me that I am but still, between her work, and the Exchange, and her dumb garden, and everything else that she does, she's hardly been spending any time with me.

Well, that's not entirely true - we're spending different time together. When she's on the computer, I'm snoozing on the floor by her feet. But I'd much rather she be watching TV or reading so I can snooze on pillows with my head on her lap. And when she's working in the garden, I have to be hooked to my tie-out instead of running in the park, something I haven't been doing a lot of lately.

Will someone please tell my Mama that it's not fair??

She says it's temporary, and besides, we're going through a scorching heat wave and she says I don't tolerate the heat very well on account of my short coat, so running around like a banshee in the dogpark is kind of out of the question right now anyway ... OK, I'll accept that.

And she says she's almost done posting to the Exchange album for me, so she won't be hogging the computer so much, and I can get back to blogging on a regulary basis. That's reasonable. Besides, I'm thrilled that my friends are getting their goodies and sharing them in the album ... OK, so scratch that.

(Geez, it's a darned good thing I assigned Mama to post up the album because if I had to do it myself, it would probably take me two years, which would be worse. So, yeah, scratch that.)
.
Plus, the garden is almost done and from hereonin it's going to be just maintenance, which doesn't take all that much time. She'll soon be getting back to her books and magazines and watching some TV, so I won't have to lie on a scratchy old carpet so much. OK, that sounds like a plan.

So... actually, when I think about it, I'm a pretty happy Boxer, afterall!

Sometimes humans DO make sense...Mama would tell you they always make sense, but I beg to differ.

Anyway, like I said, Mama's been working in the garden. Ya know, I have no idea how she can play with all those flowers and not have the urge to eat them - you can actually see me chomping on some pink lilacs below.

I also don't understand why she works so hard with that big, heavy shovel to dig holes when I can paw one out for her in no time. All she has to do is ask... anyway, I included myself in the garden pictures because I am very much a part of the garden, right?

If you're wondering what happened to my stick pile, it's been moved to a new location. It's now near the fence and away from the garden because it was kind of ruining the grass. But it's growing and I'll keep you posted on it its progress.

The Goody Exchange album is up and running and it's packed with pictures and blurbs from those of you who participated. You all look so cute and happy with your new goodies and I just know that you are enjoying them to bits. The exchange has had me pretty excited, knowing how happy so many of you are. If you aren't in the album yet, send me a comment here at my blog (not the album) and Mama will get you in. Bease and I are the editors, but Mama is the reporter!

Beauty and Rugrat got their goodies from JB today. Mama's waiting for Beauty to wake up from her nap and for Rugrat to come out of the cupboard so she can take some pictures for the album. I really want to chew that box open myself and steal their goodies but, hey, that wouldn't be cool. But I do think I'm going to creep up on Beauty soon and accidentally-on-purpose wake her up because I so want to see what's in that box ...

Beasley got my goody package today and he seems really happy with my choice of presents. I'm really glad and I hope he has so much fun with them. His package is on its way here for me and I should be getting it any day now. I get so excited whenever I think about it, my jowls start flapping around. Hurry, Mr. Postman!!

I'm about to do my first outdoor dogshow of the year this weekend in Brome, Quebec, so on Friday I'll be going for a stinky bath and a nail buzz. Bleh to that. I sure hope the weather changes for the weekend because if I'm hot in the ring, I'll get my cock-eyed face and then I won't look nice. I can't wait to see all my Boxercousins there!

Mama and Papa went to a family reunion in the country last weekend and left me behind. Mama tried to have the family dogs included but no one seemed to want us. Turns out that it was miserably hot and the mosquitos and black flies were biting like crazy. Mama and Papa got chewed up by the bugs in the worst way and Mama has a bad sunburn too. Silly humans. They could have stayed in the city and gone over to my pal Oakley's house and played with him all weekend like I did. Told you humans don't always make sense.

Oh, and I didn't have to spend hours cleaning Oakley's teeth because I'm no longer submissive to him. YAY ~ I'm officially a big boy!

The garden is lovely. You really don't want to go to a family reunion unless someone is going to drop lots of goodies on the ground. Stay out of the heat and stay safe.
We got our pictures of the goody exchange up.

Chef!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I've been playing with the toys all day! I just can't control myself! I've been leaving them all over the house so that I can conveniently play with them whenever I'm ready! Heehehe...

Mmmmmm and your mom's garden looks delicious. I wish I had grass, but since we are renting a house right now, my human says she doesn't want to pay to put grass in the yard. I'm totally okay with that though, 'cause when the dirt gets wet, I have mud!

Ummm Satan just jumped on my humans bed...I dont think i approve of this behavior!!! Chef! Shhe's now pokey pawing all over my human and licking her! She's taking over my territory! This isn't right is it?

I can't wait till you get your package! I hope you love it!

Slurp!

Hope your mom remembers to bring a slobber rag to the show this weekend. You will be producing mucho suds if they weather remains hot.

I agree on the gardening. I do try to help with weeding around the fruit trees, but mom says I kick up too much extra dirt and am all messing things up.

Whatever.

BARK!! Mommy and daddy have been doing a lot of digging lately too. She even put out a bunch of good smelling dirt, but she thought it was stinky. Dumb Max could dig way faster than she does.
We have been hot out here too. On our last walk, I just gave up and sat down. That set mommy straight and she rushed us home.
BARK! Sasha the Princess
PS- you remind mommy of her friend in Washington.

Chef, pal, I feel for you cos my Mom is too busy too.... didn't have time for me to wag over to see you till now ...always making me late.

Your garden looks pretty, apart from the lack of sticks of course. Sticks are the best but lets not tell that to our pals who like balls or there won't be enough for me and you!

Good luck in the dog show Chef.

Wagging, Eric

Chef, your Mom's garden is boo-tiful! My Mom is very jealous because hers doesn't look nearly as nice. The only thing that grows really well are her roses, but she says what's the point since I like to bite their little heads off. Hope you are staying cool in the heat wave!
