A Boxer extravaganza

August 18 /08

On Saturday, I went with Mama and Papa to a BBQ at my breeder Barry's house in Ormstown, Quebec and met up with some of my Boxer cousins. I had the best time. Thankfully, after a month of dreary, rainy days, the sun came shining down on our Boxer extravaganza.
.
Because the property is a bit close to a road, we had to spend a lot of the time crated but we were allowed out for some running and rowdiness.
.
In the video below, you'll see the best freedom run I've had in a long time. Notice how I love to grab hold of my leash and run like the wind with it.
.
I also sometimes do that to Mama when she's walking me. It's my way of saying I don't like being tethered to my leash, and I want to take it away and bury it somewhere where no one will ever find it. I don't suppose that's ever going to happen anytime soon, but at least I make my point.

With the help of my choreographer, Lianna, I decided to perform my very own interpretation of Queen's "I Want to Break Free," to express my wish to be leash-free. I was dancing with total abandon. Notice my jettes and pirouettes. I can jump so high !

.This is Mama introducing a few of my cousins. Some of them were scattered around the grounds so you won't meet all of them, unfortunately. But you will, more or less, see
Diva, Dreamer, Destiny, Sequel, Apollo and Leo. I didn't get to see my sister Rose or my cousin Promise, who both live there, which was too bad because I wanted to give them each a big lickykiss.

I got to see my Boxermother, China. Do you know I'm bigger than her now? She was very sweet to me except when Mama was feeding me my supper. Mother just trotted over and tried to snatch it right off my plate! She must have forgotten for a minute that I was her hungry baby son. Of course, Mama couldn't resist her and even though my indignant face says otherwise, I suppose I was happy to share my BBQ lamb and chicken with her.

Course, if I had it my way, I'd have eaten the whole 40-lb. lamb all by myself. That was my plan but it didn't work out ... too many people with the same idea.

And just look at that stick pile on the wagon. Doesn't it just make you want to organize it and chew on those suckers for a couple of months?

On my next jailbreak I got some hugs.

,
.
,
Then it was back in the crate for another couple of hours. You can see by my mad face that I'm not too happy about it.

But then I was placed next to old Aunt Destiny so we spent our time sticking our tongues out at each other to pass the time.

It sure was nice seeing so many friends and relatives. It was especially fun watching all those humans playing and eating and drinking and carrying on like a bunch of sillyBoxers. I want to thank them for keeping all us dogs entertained.

Oh my crap Chef!!! You jump way high! I had no idea!!! What was up with the crating? I mean...I think you should have been able to roam free and hunt out some good sticks! Hehehehe!

Today at the dogpark I played really good with a boxer. I was particularly fond of the boxers today. I just pretended they were all you! It was the best!!!

Hi-ya Chef! What a great jumper you are. I got tired and started panting and drooling just watching you run and jump!

Looks like a super fun party, despite being put in jail every now and again. I know how you feel...just when things start getting really fun it seems like the 2-leggeds think it is time to put us 4-paws back in the slammer.

Love your videos! You are pawsome!

Woofs and slobbers from your Newfie pal,

hi Chef, that video of you playing with your leash is hilarious. we had to laugh. you were doing some pretty good moves there and that jumping was first rate. you look like a lot of fun - just playing all by yourself, then with your mom (was that your mom?). that looked like a fun picnic, except for the crate part.

Hey Chef
I have just discovered why I am missing out on your adventures. Stupid mistress had added your blog to my sidebar but forgot to add you to bloglines.

I have ordered her to remedy that RIGHT NOW and have pawsonally stood over her to make sure she did it.

Love the pic with the leash by the way. I must try that.
